Indoorgaudi 2009

The Indoorgaudi 2009 is gaining more and more intrest in the helicopter idoor flying scene around Munich. This time we had a few more quadrocopters pilots as well. A good mixture of all types. TT-copter, Mikrokopter, UAVP and the new Conrad Quadro as well.

This is my 2nd time visiting the Indoorgaudi and the first public presentation of my quadrocopter with distance control. Some of you may know that i have tested this on a Mikrokopter 2 years ago in Ireland (klick!). 4 IR distatnce sensors and one for the hight control make this quadrocopter reacting to his environment. Just watch this video and tell me what you think. it’s not perfect as the code was just finished the night before and this was almost the first test flight. But you can see it’s working.

The robot is using the Conrad Quadrocopter 450 Hardware with an AD converter extender board to connect 5 distance sensors. This board is based on a MEGA168 AVR. i willpost more about this in a couple of days

After the Move to Munich the robot was presented today at the Indoorgaudi in Munich. Nice event but flying robots are clearly under represented on such events.

Live Video Camera Solution with Overlay ready

Finally all components come together the Overlay Video Transmission Solution is Mounted under the Mikrokopter and shows the right data. The PCB’s have just the right size to hold a small 9g servo to compensate the nick axis movements.

The Video Transmitter is attached to the landing gear (black box in the upper middle of the picture.

Microsoft Robotic Service controls Mikrokopter

After the Data link works it was time to extend the Robotics Studio Service to tunnel Data to the extension board and to extend the Mikrokopter firmware with a serial control functionality. With a Simple VPL Application it is now possible to control the Mikrokopter with a Joystick

Data Link for the Mikrokopter

The data link for the new frame is finished. The new Board can be mounted under the new frame. As used in the old frame I decided to continue using the AREOCOMM 2.4Ghz transceiver module. This allow using all tools like directly connected with a wire. The board can also be equipped with an additional MEGA 8 AVR Microprocessor. This can be use to connect additional sensors to the Mikrokopter and send the data via the serial interface to the Flight control.
